Athletes with Allergies and Asthma
Dr. Storms has been a consultant with the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for over 30 years and has treated many athletes with allergies and asthma, from recreational joggers to elite athletes to Olympic gold medalists. He is a well-known expert on exercise-induced asthma and has served as Chairman of the Sportsmedicine Committees of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He has published articles on the diagnosis and treatment of exercise-induced asthma.
In 2006 the William Storms Allergy Clinic introduced a standardized test for exercise-induced asthma, called eucapnic voluntary hyperpnea which is simple to perform and does not require running on a treadmill or inhaling irritant chemicals.
